Sheriff’s Office With Aging Home Grown System
The Challenge
Sheriff’s Office with over 3,000 public safety providers covering 2,000+ square miles of patrol area and supporting a population of over 1 million people was using non-integrated systems built on an aging architecture. Communications Center supported nearly 750,000 calls for service from five dispatch locations.
The Solution
eGov Consulting conducted a business process analysis to determine how the Sheriff’s Office currently performed their work and how technology supported them. Through interviews with Command Staff, we identified the future state the Agency wanted to achieve.
Using this analysis, specifications were developed for a fully-integrated system to include CAD, RMS, Mobile, Jail, Network & Radio. Budget and staffing requirements were developed. This plan was presented to Command Staff for review and approval. A request for proposal (RFP) was developed for a COTS system and was issued. Through a formal selection process, a vendor was selected and a contract negotiated, including a detailed statement of work.
The Result
A full-integrated system is being implemented with few project issues, no delays and no scope changes.
